Hi my name is Evan
This is my first Blog post
I've missed a bit of college lately due to the fact that I'm taking part in a training course to be certified in a new area of employment for my upcoming working contract, This course unfortunately takes about 6 weeks to complete. Luckily I managed to arrange to have the majority of my training done during the Easter break and some even outside college hours so I'm grateful that this allows me to focus more on my college studies, such as this project.
We're doing an animation piece on the 1916 rising, when we met up as a group we threw some great ideas into the mix, discussing different types and techniques of animation and different perspectives to show the audience. The timeline idea that Colm and Darren came up with was great and it seems that we are leaning in that direction as a group.
I've taken a particular interest in the Executions of the Irish leaders.
Through my research of the executions I found these facts about the leaders particularly interesting:
Éamonn Ceannt: Born in Galway in 1881 - He was a co-founder of the Irish Volunteers.
Thomas James Clarke: Born on the Isle of Wight in 1857 - During his time in America as a young man, he joined Clann na nGael - He was executed on 3 May 1916.
James Connolly (1868-1916): Born in Edinburgh in 1868 - The strong Irish presence in Edinburgh stimulated Connolly’s growing interest in Irish politics in the mid 1890s - Connolly was executed while sitting down on 12 May 1916. He was the last of the leaders to be executed.
Thomas Kent: Born in 1865 - He was executed at Cork Detention Barracks on 9 May 1916 following a court martial. In 1966 the railway station in Cork was renamed Kent Station in his honour.
